'Improving Risk Assessment to Safeguard Children'

18 September 2024

Download Event to Calendar

Despite the plethora of safeguarding procedures and policies, there is seldom one obvious linear path to take in deciding what course of action is most likely to lead to the best outcome for children and families.  Every intervention has consequences which may or may not ultimately be of benefit to the child.  What are the personal, cultural and systemic influences on us as practitioners in making decisions when the safety of a child is in question?

This half-day online training course is for professionals who are already familiar with the safeguarding system but want to upgrade their skills in risk assessment and decision making when working within that system. The course will be interactive and based on experiential exercises and case studies to allow participants the opportunity to explore the dilemmas inherent in safeguarding practice.

About the Trainer: Gretchen Precey qualified in Social Work in 1977.  She has been an Independent Social Worker, Trainer and Consultant for 24 years and a long-time member of Nagalro.
